Whether or not you are covered is essentially dependent on WHY the water is in your home! What is covered obviously depends on your specific policy and its provisions, but some common features are typical of most standard policies. One of these is that standard homeowners insurance does not cover flood damage. Your home is only protected from flood damage if you have purchased a flood insurance policy. This is an important purchase for those living in a designated flood plain, but should also be considered in some other instances. One example is if your basement is likely to be flooded during a heavy rain in which water enters the basement because the surrounding soil cannot absorb it fast enough. Flooding, typically defined as “rising” water, is not covered in a standard policy regardless of whether it comes from an overflowing river or a heavy rain.
Kentuckians and Ohioans alike are well aware over the last few years of what can happen when water rises faster than the ground can contain it. Todd has personally lived through this loss with his family. So, from personal experience he knows that at The Todd D. Tucker Agency—We work, for you. |
